How do I get Bank of America to pre qualify me for a credit card?
Bank of America Pre-Qualify Instructions How do I get Bank of America to pre qualify me for a credit card? This question is about Bank of America Credit Cards WalletHub, Financial Company @WalletHub • 07/09/22 This answer was first published on 05/25/18 and it was last updated on 07/09/22.For the most current information about a financial product, you should always check and confirm accuracy with the offering financial institution. Editorial and user-generated content is not provided, reviewed or endorsed by any company. You can easily get Bank of America to pre-qualify you for a credit card online. All you have to do is provide your name, birth date and Social Security number, and Bank of America’s pre-qualify tool will show you any credit cards for which you have good approval odds. You might also receive a pre-qualified offer in the mail, which will only be for a single card. If you already have a Bank of America account, all you have to do is log in to the pre-qualification page and you’ll be able to see your offers right away without inputting any extra information. If you don’t have an account, you just need to follow five simple steps. Here’s how to get Bank of America to pre-qualify you for a credit card: Go to Bank of America’s pre-qualification page. Click “Continue without signing in.” Enter your full name, birth date and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Click “Continue.” Enter your address and select what type of credit card you’re interested in (you can also select that you don’t have a preference). Click “Show me my offers.” You’ll now be able to see any cards that Bank of America thinks you’d be a good candidate for. If you got a pre-qualification letter in the mail, you can either fill out the enclosed application, or use the special code provided when you apply online to flag your application as pre-qualified. Pre-qualification doesn’t guarantee approval Pre-qualification doesn’t guarantee you approval. But pre-qualified applicants end up being approved in the vast majority of cases. Pre-qualification doesn’t affect your credit at all since it uses a soft inquiry. But if you want to apply for a card, Bank of America will do a hard inquiry, which will cause a temporary score dip. This decrease is easily fixed with a few months of responsible card use, though. If you’d like to check for pre-qualification, you can do it in minutes. How to Get Pre-Approved and Pre-Qualify for Bank of America …
How to Get Pre-Approved and Pre-Qualify for Bank of America Credit Cards As a financial journalist, I have to admit something potentially embarrassing: I didn’t know anything about pre-qualifying for a credit card until a few years into my career. In my early college days when I had no money and no sense (or cents), I actually thought that I could get one of the high-end Amex cards.y If I would have used the American Express pre-qualify tool before applying, I would have known that, as somebody who was not even 20 years old with a part-time job making french fries, I wouldn’t be approved for the card. In fact, the perfect card for me at the time had a $500 credit limit and an interest rate equal to your average payday loan. Getting Pre-Qualified Is the Right Move Even now that I’m a lot older, a little wiser and have a more respectable bank account balance, getting pre-qualified still makes sense. Why go through the long, boring and annoying process of a credit card application if you’re going to get rejected anyway? Plus, your credit score will take a hit for no reason if you don’t get approved. Bank of America offers a lot of great credit cards, so let’s take a closer look at the Bank of America pre-approval and pre-qualification process. It’s worth doing before you complete a Bank of America credit card application. What Is Credit Card Pre-Qualification and Pre-Approval? Check your SPAM folder and you’ll probably see a good sampling of the credit cards currently on the market. For every offer you see, there are dozens more that you don’t see. Most of those pre-approved credit card offers should die in your SPAM folder. But some of them are worth checking out. Pre-qualifying does two things: It gives you a strong indication of your chances of qualifying for a credit card, and you’ll see a larger selection of credit card choices. Just because you saw a Capital One commercial, complete with Vikings and questionable acting, doesn’t mean that it’s the perfect card for you. Pre-qualifying will show you a bunch of others cards you didn’t know existed. How Does Pre-Qualification Work? When you officially apply, the credit card company does a complete check of your credit. Because you entered your Social Security number and other personal information, they can do what’s called a hard credit check (also called a hard pull) to see if you actually qualify for the card you hope to get. The problem with a hard pull is that your credit score gets dinged—usually about 5 points. One or two hard pulls aren’t a big deal if you have excellent credit. If you don’t, though, even one hard pull might be a problem, especially if you end up not qualifying for the card. Pre-qualification is different. Because you’re only entering the most basic of information and not giving your consent for a hard pull, the financial institution pulls some very basic information about you to see if you might qualify. This is called a soft pull. It has no impact on your credit score. Does Pre-Qualification Mean I’m Approved? Pre-qualification is helpful, but it doesn’t mean you’re approved. It means that you’re more likely to be approved. You can’t be approved without a hard pull on your credit. In the case of most card companies, the options they give you are probably cards you can get. How to Prequalify for a Bank of America Card Now that you know some of the fundamentals of pre-qualification and pre-approval, let’s talk about Bank of America. Maybe you have your eye on a Bank of America card, but you aren’t sure if you’ll qualify. Go to the issuer’s pre-qualification/pre-approval website to get started. You have two choices—sign in or continue without signing…
Credit Cards That Offer Preapproval Without a Hard Pull
Credit Cards That Offer Preapproval Without a Hard Pull – NerdWalletIN THIS ARTICLE:When you apply for a credit card, the card issuer usually conducts what’s known as a hard inquiry or “hard pull” on your credit report to determine your creditworthiness. Hard inquiries can knock points off your credit scores temporarily. However, many of the biggest credit card issuers offer a pre-qualification or preapproval process that lets you avoid that hit to your scores, at least initially. These screening processes look at your basic credit information and run a “soft” credit check to determine your likelihood of approval. Soft inquiries don’t affect your scores. Then, if you decide to formally apply for the card, the hard pull will still happen (although not always). But the prescreening process will have given you a good sense of where you stand — whether the hard pull is going to be worth it. A few credit cards will even show you your specific offer, including credit limit and APR, before you accept the hard pull.🤓Nerdy TipUnlike with mortgages, the distinction between credit card “pre-qualification” and “preapproval” isn’t as clear, and some card issuers even use the terms interchangeably. Generally, preapproved offers are a bit more official in terms of your odds, but in either case, issuers try to match you with cards that best fit your credit. The most reliable offers are preapprovals from a bank you have a relationship with. That bank already has the information it needs to make a decision.Issuer pre-qualification pagesEach issuer requires different information to process a pre-qualification request.
